A little bit of politics
Hi all
I've been mulling over doing this blog for a few years now. I think the so called culture wars and wokeism needs some clarity adding to it from my perspective.
But first some updates. My oestrogen levels are finally just a smidge under target. 400 is the target and I've hit 373 in my last bloods up from 231 three months earlier. Testosterone continues to go in the opposite direction as well. The average adult female levels are up to 350. All going well. Physically things are growing and shrinking as appropriate so again all well.
Oddly I've had a few incidents in recent weeks. Misgendered in a shop, overhead someone questioning if I was male or female and being accosted verbally in the street by a homeless person who again questioned my gender. Add to this last night in Manchester being verbally insulted by a tanked up group of young lads. I think misgendering in normal activities is the most frustrating. The name, my dress and essentially everything about when you meet me should give an indication. The idiots on the street are just that. It's either showing off or just being rude. I've been tempted to be a bit more defensive but decided that ignoring them is the best policy.
I however find it more difficult to ignore the garbage spouted in the press. First point is every element of the press regardless of their stance have a ulterior motive. They are businesses and rely on advertising. More people interact with them the more money they make from you. So they say things to inflame etc. It's a rather simple but well used method. If you genuinely want to find out something, widen your sources and you will find out more. I have no time for someone who reads one source and accepts it as the truth end of
Second point is we are not an ideology. We are human beings with rights. Trans people have been around forever and people have swapped gender formally for 50 years. It's not new, you won't catch it nor will others just by acknowledging us.
The world is ahead of the UK on trans rights . Eire has had self identification for over 5 years. Has the world ended, have women been erased or rights lost. Not at all. Nothing has changed.
Let's look at the effect of defining someone solely by their reproduction system. How do you propose to check this when going into a loo? Innocent people will be stigmatized just to protect from an ideological but non existent threat. I read this week that 1.6m women a year are victims of domestic violence. Think about therefore where the threat to women mainly comes from. Inside their own home or relationship. Noticeable that no suggestions from the gender critical lobby to spend their money on trying to solve this instead of their ideological hate instead. I reiterate the Eire position. No change, no threat.
There has been a few court cases recently with attempted back door attacks on trans rights.i know as a lawyer how much these actions cost. The individual bringing the action doesn't have that amount of money so just think where it's coming from. By and large they lose. That money could have been spent helping female domestic violence victims. So ask yourself who is funding these actions and to what ends. What is their motive. Do they have Women's rights at the forefront of their mind. I suggest not.
Lest we forget Transmen. Women who transition to men. I've met a few. More masculine than I ever was. Beard, balding with tattoo. Due to the even worse medical situation they are in the vast majority will have a vagina still. Where do they pee in the non woke world?. We all share gender neutral facilities without knowing it. Loos on trains, planes and at home. We don't flinch but me standing next to you to wash my hands is to some a crime. Remember the stat about who are the biggest threat to women.
This brings me nicely into the subject of toxic masculinity. Men can cry, show their emotions, have respect for women without compromising their so called manlyness. Again where is this violence against women coming from. It's misogynistic end of to not treat women as equals. Men have no inane right to believe they are better or more suitable than women. Kids don't know how to discriminate from birth, they are brought up and we have to take a new mindset as to how we define the genders.
There is nothing wrong with being woke as the true definition not the warped version being used for political point scoring is simply about respect and consideration. Just being kind and understanding. Ask yourself why someone would not want to be like that and it tells you more about them rather than the so called war on woke they claim to support. Toxic masculinity accounts for a great deal of hatred towards transwomen. Women don't perhaps realize the allies they have in the trans community. We are not the risk or enemy.
A friend said recently that the trans community are going through now what the gay community went through in the 80s. That progressive agenda succeeded and gay rights are accepted now. History proved those who were on the wrong side of that argument were the dinosaurs. I've heard it said recently also that those opposing trans rights will also ultimately end up on the wrong side of history.
As repeatedly said above the threat to women is a lot closer to home and not at all in the trans community. I will gladly stand alongside any woman who wants to protest about male violence or reproduction rights. We have your back and don't be duped by others with a more malevolent agenda. First they come for us....who is next if they succeed because be reassured they won't stop at us.
I've tried to cover the key points but a lot can be summed up as scaremongering or whataboutery. Perceived risks that in reality either don't exist or are marginal. Other bigger risks already exist and are unabated.
Ill finish by talking again about the happenings in Manchester last night. That was 6 or so young lads pissed up trying to be the manly male. One statistically was probably a closet homosexual. What I didn't mention were the hundreds if not more I bumped into, walked past or stood next to on the train who saw me for who I am and respected that. Much rather listen to or associate with them. They are more human than any of the others will ever be.
So if there is one thing I ask you take forward from this essay is that be woke, be caring, be kind because if you aren't it's you who has the problem and are the potential risk, not me.
Happier blog next time I promise
Take care
Amanda xx
