Awareness
Been a busy period. As I write this I'm halfway through a series of webinars and meetings I'm doing to recognise Transgender awareness week.

I get asked a fair bit to do events. I've always been vocal about my journey and the issues my community faces. We don't have to look far too see what we are up against and I use my status and platform to educate, inform and myth bust.
The vast majority of people I come across haven't met anyone from my community so it's essential to get across the challenges and end the misinformation.
Whilst this week is a focal point, I'm very conscious that my duty as an advocate for my community is a 24/7 task. I cannot be complacent because those that seek to attack my community also see their task as all consuming.
That duty to educate and inform is a deeply held passion that drives me. My visibility is a totem for information, a way sign for those not comfortable to be themselves but also a warning that we won't be pushed aside.
As well as telling my story and educating, I am also keen to support others in my community.
Earlier in the year I became aware of a project whereby the voices of my community would be embroidered onto material and a dress created from the same.
I am proud to say I contributed to this project and the outcome can be found by watching the reel on the link below
The photo below is a momento I was sent by the creator of this project.
This is how we raise awareness.
We can't hide in the shadows or closet's. We have no reason to hide. I do this as well as for myself but also for those behind me who might not yet have the confidence to be themselves. I show them what they can be and it's never too late.
Transgender awareness week ends on the 20th with Transgender Day of Remembrance.
We remember those we have lost through hate. In 2020 350 trans variant people were murdered. That figure is increasing year on year.
This is why awareness is so important.
I would be more than happy to talk to you or any company or organisation you represent to educate and inform.
Until then read the rest of this blog and be an ally. When I'm in the room I can fight my corner when I'm not it's then when I need you to fight for me by standing up and shouting down misinformation and bigotry.
