Knickers
Wow we appear to be having a great summer so far. Since I've been back from holiday aside from dodging the odd thundery shower there has been loads of opportunities for summer outfits.
Which following on from my last missive about body confidence got me thinking about underwear.
Ok so pre op the intention was keeping things flat / tucked (an art in itself. Google it if you want to know more) so big brutally strong knickers were the order of the day.
As my recovery post op was autumn into winter then the big knickers hung around not least for warmth!!. However as it got hotter and the outfits skimpy then a different approach was needed. So off knicker shopping.
Now like every girl I'd love matching items but the need and cost was more urgent. Again M&S came to the rescue. Brazilians and very comfy but an entirely different sensation wearing something so much lighter. Another thing ticked off. So much quicker in the loo as well.
As I write this we are heading into the last week of Pride month which is ironic as locally they are only just starting!
First one ticked off this weekend at Warrington and had a great night with great friends.
A couple of interesting things happened. I had about 6 random approaches from strangers who were very complimentary. Hair or dress usually the two of choice. Fiery red and a blue floral gauze style with underslip from Lipsy in case you are interested.
That really does an old Transwoman a world of good so please keep doing it.
Additionally one of the djs got the crowd going with a chant of No LGB and the crowd response "without the T". Now there are people out there trying to prise a wedge in the community. However for the record I'm both T and B in the LGBTQ+ universe. You therefore can't split us and forget not that we are fighting the same fight. As USA has shown they will come for all of my community.
Anyhow I digress. The point was to hear 500+ chanting that and directly supporting my community and me was very emotional. My emotions are very much just below the surface now and I'm prone to tears for something like that. Fortunately friends were on hand with hugs, but it really was important to hear that aloud.
So that's one Pride ticked off. We still however have to avoid complacency. At a work event this week, apathy was writ large. That said post COVID apathy in terms of what previously would be well attended events remains stubborn to shift. However flying the corporate pride flag appears to be more of a tick box exercise than genuine support and I will continue to fight my own battles to ensure we don't slip backwards. It may be me singlehandedly doing it but I will continue so generations can still have rights equal as others.
Well after getting this weekend out of the way then it's event after event now on. Festival, Sparkle weekend, local Prides, Leeds and Blackpool to name but a few.
I'll be posting updates on @AmandaOutThere on Instagram and YouTube so feel free to follow and subscribe.
Until then be the best you that you can be.
